Meet Michelle

Michelle Bradley Robertson has always seen the world through color.

A North Carolina artist with a bold, eclectic point of view, Michelle has long been drawn to the glamour and individuality of vintage fashion—the effortless caftans, classic shifts, fabulous prints, and beautifully feminine silhouettes of the 1960s and ’70s.

But when she went looking for those things for herself, she couldn’t find them.

She wanted clothes with the color and personality of vintage fashion, but made for the way women live today. She wanted beautiful, flattering silhouettes that worked across sizes, ages, shapes, and heights. And most of all, she wanted pieces that felt original.

So she decided to design them herself.

In 2023, Michelle took one of her original paintings, transformed it into fabric, and created a vintage-inspired caftan she actually wanted to wear. That first piece became the beginning of House of MBR.

Today, every House of MBR print still begins with Michelle’s original artwork. Her paintings become bold, joyful fabrics paired with vintage-inspired silhouettes designed in North Carolina and produced in small batches here in America.

Just as important to Michelle is how the clothes are made. House of MBR works with American manufacturers that Michelle and her team know personally and have built real relationships with partners who understand the brand, value the craftsmanship, and care about the pieces they are creating.

At the heart of House of MBR is the same idea that inspired Michelle to begin: clothing should make you feel confident, beautiful, and joyful. The art of dressing.
